Ira I. Cobb
August 17, 1928 - December 20, 2017

GLENFIELD - Ira I. Cobb, 89, of Syracuse, formerly of the Odett Road, died on Wednesday night, December 20, 2017, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.

Mr. Cobb, a son of the late George W. and Ruth Alice (Casler) Cobb, was born on August 17, 1928, in Fulton.  After joining the U.S. Army in 1945, he served during World War II, the Korea War, and the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant.  On November 15, 1952, he married Viktoria Hopp at Bamberg, Germany.  After leaving the Army, he and Viktoria made their home in Glenfield where Ira was employed by Widmeyer Farm & Home.  Viktoria died on Saturday, March 17, 2012.  A life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, V.F.W., Ira, also, joined the Lowville American Legion Post #162.

He is survived by his three children, two daughters, Barbara E. Andrzejewski, and her husband, (Hawk) Henry Andrezejewski, of Helena, Alabama, and Ruth A. Brisson, of Syracuse; a son and his wife, George W. and Rose Cobb, of Waynesville, Missouri; ten grandchildren and spouses:  Lisa Andrzejewski, Dana and Ryan Livingston, Danielle Cobb, Jason and Kelly Cobb, Brandon Szlamczynski, George and Dakota Cobb, John Cobb, and Victoria Cobb; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Mack, of Oswego; two brothers: Dewitt E. Cobb, of Georgia, and Lyle G. Cobb, of Union Springs.

He is predeceased by his son, Ira I. Cobb, Jr.; two brothers, Floyd W. and Richard P. Cobb; three sisters:  Barbara Burnswick, Edith Mae Cobb and Mary Lou Carlson.

Calling hours for family and friends will be at the Sundquist Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28th from 1:00 to 3:30 P.M., with his funeral service starting at 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Ronald Pominville, Deacon officiating. Spring military burial will be in Brantingham Cemetery.
