CARTHAGE– Norma Ruth Conde, 91, of Meadowbrook Terrace, Carthage, formerly of Watertown, died Tuesday evening at the Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.

Norma, a daughter of the late Ray and Lucille Yoder Farney, was born on October 11, 1926, in Croghan, New York.  In 1944, she graduated from Beaver Falls High School.  On February 9, 1963, she married William Wheeler Conde at the Black River Valley Club with then City Judge George G. Inglehart officiating.  Mr. Conde died on December 26, 1984.

Mrs. Conde enjoyed her role as a dental hygienist.  After graduating from Eastman Dental Dispensary in Rochester, New York, in 1946, she began her career as a dental hygiene teacher in Putnam County, New York, a position she held from 1946 to 1956.  Then, she worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. A. L. Danforth in Watertown, New York, from 1956 until 1963.

An active member of the Christian Women’s Organization of Watertown, New York, Mrs. Conde served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church, Watertown, New York.  Moreover, she joined the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, in 2002.  She liked reading, walking, entertaining, sewing, and studying the Bible.  Most of all, however, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Steve; their two children and their spouses, Andrew and Amanda Conde, of Bend, Oregon, and Kimberly and Karl Askins, of Watertown; her brother, Vincent, and his wife, Gladyce Farney, of Carthage; a nephew, Reginald Farney, and his son, Brenon; five grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia, Julia, Jack, and Arden; a stepson, Sandy Conde, and his wife, Nancy, of Henderson Harbor, New York, and their children, Susan and Sam; and her stepdaughter, Ann Burt, of Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts.  She is predeceased by a brother, Curtis Farney, who died at age 3 in 1932 and her stepson, Jay Conde, 68, of Harrods Creek, Kentucky, in 2015.

All are welcome to attend a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, with Ministers of the Church officiating.  A spring burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.  Calling hours are from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan.  Please mail memorials to Ted Virkler, Treasurer, 7072 Kirschnerville Road, Croghan, New York 13327.
