Joanne L. (Lee) D'Ambrosi
November 29, 1945 ~ December 24, 2019 (age 74)

TURIN – Joanne L. D’Ambrosi, 74, of New York State Route 26, died Tuesday morning, December 24, 2019, at the Lewis County General Hospital.

Joanne was born in Lowville, New York, on November 29, 1945, to the late Harold Joseph and Bernice Claus Peterson Lee.  She graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1963 from General Martin Central School.  After graduation, Joanne went to work in the office at Georgia Pacific in Lyons Falls and then in the office at Snow Ridge where she met her husband.  On June 11, 1966, she married Santo J. “Sam” D’Ambrosi at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville.  Together with her husband, they owned and operated a popular establishment in Turin, The Crossroads Restaurant, until 1976.  Next, Joanne worked for Kristin International until 1986 when she began working at Phase 4 Builders in Turin, a position from which she retired after many years.

A communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, Joanne belonged to St. Hedwig’s Society as well.  Moreover, as a valuable member of the Turin community, she served on the Village of Turin Board, the Town of Turin Board, and currently, as a Town of Turin Supervisor.  In addition, she served on the B. Elizabeth Strong Memorial Library Board of Trustees, and she belonged to the Turin Civic Club and the Turin Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Otherwise, Joanne enjoyed tending her flowers, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and visiting with family and friends.  Furthermore, she enjoyed her Wednesday coffee club, but most of all, she liked spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, Patrick D’Ambrosi, and his companion, Lynnette Parker, and her two sons, Ethan and Jarrett, of Turin, a daughter, Kristiane, and her husband, John Bauer, of Marcy, New York; a sister, Mary Frances Waligory, of Lowville; and two grandchildren, Courtney D’Ambrosi and Evan Bauer; as well as by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Santo J. “Sam” D’Ambrosi, and by a sister, Jane Lamb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with Rev. James Seymour officiating.  Calling hours are scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  A spring burial will follow in the Old Glendale Cemetery.  Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the B. Elizabeth Strong Memorial Library, 6312 East Main Street, Turin, New York 13473; or to DaVita Dialysis at the Lewis County General Hospital, 7785 North State Street, Lowville, New York 13367 or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, PO Box 266, Lowville, New York 13367.
