LOWVILLE - Our mother Phyllis Ruby Davis left this world to be with her beloved husband, Donald Charles Davis, on Sunday afternoon, January 1, 2017, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.  A daughter of Raymond and Pearl Rowsam, she was born on January 22, 1921, in Lowville.  After graduating from Lowville Academy, she married Donald C. Davis on August 28, 1938.

During World War II, she drove a 2.5-ton Army truck at Camp Drum.  Later, she operated Phyl’s Beauty Shop for many years before going back to school for Nurses Aid training.  She started at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility on their opening day of operations.  Eventually, she transferred into the Activities Department where she remained until she retired.

She is survived by her daughters, Carole A. Butcher, of The Villages, Florida, and Cynthia E. Davis, of Lowville, New York; her son, Jeffrey D. Davis, of Cazenovia, New York; her grandchildren, Dawn Schilling, of The Villages, Florida, Keagen Davis, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Leaha Davis Wilson, of Champaign, Illinois; and several great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Davis, in 1994; and her brothers, Kenneth and Bernard “Bing” Rowsam.

There will be no calling hours.  A privae graveside service for Phyllis R. Davis will follow on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Beaches Bridge Cemetery with Rev. Mr. Ronald Pominville, Deacon, officiating.

The Davis family would like to extend their gratitude and sincere thanks to the entire third floor staff at the Lewis County Health Care Facility for the care and compassion they gave our Mother Phyllis.  God Bless and Thank You all so much.
