Mary Eleanor Dunckel
May 24, 1943 ~ February 5, 2018 (age 74)

LOWVILLE – Mary Eleanor Dunckel, 74, of Summit Avenue, Lowville, died peacefully Monday evening, February 5, 2018, at her home under the loving care of family and Lewis County Hospice.

A daughter of the late Ralph and Eleanor Mahar White, Mary was born on May 24, 1943, in Syracuse, New York.  She graduated from St. Patrick’s School in Syracuse, New York, in 1961, from Syracuse University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and lastly, from SUNY Potsdam with a Master’s in Education.  On July 12, 1969, she married Earl Dunckel at St. Patrick’s Church in Syracuse.  For the next thirteen years, Mrs. Dunckel, then, taught first grade at the Constableville Elementary School until she retired in 2002.  A communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, she, actively participated within both the church and St. Therese’s Guild in addition to serving as the CCD coordinator at St. Peter’s School for many years. Moreover, she volunteered at hospice and with the Lewis County General Hospital Monday Mass for patients.  Above all else, however, she loved being a grandmother.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor, officiating.  Spring burial will follow in the Lowville Rural Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, New York 13367.
