Thomas E. Hoskins
October 28, 1939 ~ September 5, 2017 (age 77)

LYONS FALLS – Thomas E. Hoskins, 77, formerly of Hoskins Road, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

Thomas Edgar Hoskins, a son of the late Jay and Mildred Hoskins, was born on October 28, 1939.  He attended and graduated from school in Lyons Falls.  He married the love of his life, Eleanor Burrows, on July 21, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois.  After returning to Lyons Falls, he owned and operated Hoskins Dairy Farm for many years.  He, also, worked at construction for several years, returning to the farm until he retired in 2007.

Tom loved farming, hunting, and snowmobiling, and taking Gramma and Zena for rides.  Well known at the local restaurants they would frequent every day on their rounds and loved by many, he had a enticing sense of humor.  Moreover, he loved to sing and participated in a barbershop quartet for several years.

He is survived by four children, Linda Hoskins, Michael Hoskins, Jeffrey (Wendy) Hoskins, all of Lyons Falls, and Robin (Pamela) Hoskins, of Port Leyden; Eleanor’s children:  Joyce and Charles Halladay, of Lowville, Larry Stevens, of Dexter, Douglas and Betty Stevens, of Manchester, New York, Rhudell and Catherine Burriss, of Lowville, and Shirley Burriss, of Summerville, South Carolina; and a sister, June; as well as by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by Eleanor Burrows Hoskins, his wife of nearly fifty-five years; his brothers, Richard and Robert Hoskins; a granddaughter, Annette Merry; two great-granddaughters, Keyarra Anderson and Annabelle Burriss; and Eleanor’s son, Roger Burriss.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Iseneker Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Turin Volunteer Fire Company & Ambulance, 4239 NYS Route 26, Turin, New York 13473.
