September 22, 1933 - June 25, 2018

Constableville- Surrounded by her loving family, Katherine McDonald Seelman, 84, passed away after a long illness on June 25, 2018, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility in Lowville.

A daughter of Clarence and Margaret Mary Donlon McDonald, she was born on September 22, 1933, in Remsen, New York.  Growing up, she attended school in Remsen.  On December 2, 1950, she married R. Don Seelman in Steuben.  They settled in Highmarket on the family farm, which they operated for many years.  She greatly enjoyed working the farm and in her flower gardens, but most of all, she relished her role as a mom.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, April and Stephen Allen, of Rome, and Dawn Bush, of Port Leyden; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Doug and Susan Seelman and Shawn Seelman and Joleen Sullivan, all of Highmarket; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Seelman, of Constableville; five grandchildren, Rebecca Marino; Michael, Melanie, and Jennifer Bush; and Jimmy Seelman; and five great grandchildren:  Ethan, Mallory, Brady, Brody, and Gavin.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Donald Seelman, on June 2, 2017; a daughter, Darlene Croniser, in 1971; and a son, Robert E. Seelman, in 2009; her brothers and sisters:  Ambrose, Joseph, Eugene, and Raymond McDonald and Anna Hurlbut and Mary Rowlands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Constableville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Fish Creek.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery or to the Alzheimer’s Association.  There will be a luncheon immediately after the burial at St. Mary’s Hall in Constableville.  Arrangements are by the Mills Funeral Home, Boonville.
