Edward Arlon Widrick
June 21, 1934 ~ July 11, 2011

Edward Arlon Widrick, 77, of 8821 Island Point Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Watertown and Lowville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2011.

Born June 21, 1934, in Naumburg, New York, to the late Andrew M. and Nancy Leis Widrick, he attended Naumburg area schools.  On May 22, 1953, he joined the Army and was, honorably, discharged on May 5, 1955.  On October 15, 1955, he married Beverly Ann Lehman at the Beaver Valley United Methodist Church.  Residing in Castorland, he was employed by A.M.F. and Climax.  Later, he worked at Beaverite Products in Croghan, retiring in 1993 after thirty-two years of gainful employment.  In addition, he worked for Pinkerton Security and Lewis County ARC.  After moving to Watertown, he became a bus driver for ARC.  In 2004, Mr. and Mrs. Widrick relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, to live with their son, Keith, and daughter-in-law, Tammy.

A member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he enjoyed baking for his family and doing yardwork.  Moreover, his grandchildren will especially miss his no-bake cookies and buckeyes not to mention his Christmas cookies.  In addition, he loved the companionship of their dog, Missy.  In a final tribute, all his children came together in June in North Carolina to celebrate Father’s Day and his 77th birthday.

His survivors include Beverly, his wife of fifty-five years; their five children:  Bruce, of Glenfield, Mrs. Gary (Sherry) Cameron, of Salem, Virginia, Keith, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jerry, of Fairfield, California, and Mrs. Brian (Jean) Austin, of Elgin, South Carolina; and two sisters:  Mrs. Ralph (LaVeda) Taube, of Naumburg, and Loretta Zehr, of Croghan; as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He is predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Albert; a grandson, Andrew Cameron; and a great-grandson, Jackson Hedgepeth.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill, South Carolina.  Contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
