Jane E. (Shepard) Wilcox
June 16, 1916 ~ September 4, 2017 (age 101)

LOWVILLE – Jane E. Wilcox, 101, formerly of East State Street, passed away early this morning at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility

A daughter of the late Jerry and Florence Shepard, Jane was born on June 16, 1916, in Powell, Wyoming.  She attended Lowville Academy.  On August 7, 1933, she married Lloyd G. Wilcox at the Lowville United Methodist Church Parsonage with Rev. E. Starks Biebe officiating.  Jane worked for local stores as a meat packager for 19 years, retiring from Totum in 1978.

A member of the Lowville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Lowville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and an honorary member of the New York State Fireman’s Auxiliary, Jane served as a judge for the fair parades.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Jane is survived by three sons and their wives, Glenn A. and Barbara Wilcox, of Lowville, Frederick L. and Frances Wilcox, of Pahrump, Nevada, and Francis Wilcox, of Lowville; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Mowers, of Lowville; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Wilcox; her son-in-law, Robert Mowers; a grandson-in-law, Jon Tripp; a sister, Florence Lynch; and an infant brother.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating.  Burial will follow in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday before the funeral service at the funeral home.  Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lowville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 81, Lowville, New York 13367; or to the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility Activity Fund, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, N.Y. 13367.
