Carol H. (Henry) Loconti
December 30, 1944 ~ October 24, 2020 (age 75)

LOWVILLE/CROGHAN- Carol H. Loconti, 75, formerly of Croghan, died late Saturday evening, October 24, 2020, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.

Carol was born on December 30, 1944, in Watertown, New York, to the late Adrian and Grace Paté Henry.  She attended Father Leo Memorial School and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Malone, New York, in 1962.  She attended Utica School of Business and then worked for Mele Manufacturing in Utica as an IBM operator before her marriage.  On November 14, 1964, she married Joseph A. Loconti at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Utica.  The couple lived in Rochester, where Mrs. Loconti worked as an IBM key punch operator before moving to Croghan in 1967.  Then, from 1967 until 1984, she worked alongside her husband and father in the Henry – Loconti Insurance Agency, Inc.

A communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, Mrs. Loconti participated in bingo, fundraising enterprises, and with the church hospitality committee.  Also active as a Girl Scout leader, she joined the Croghan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary as well.

Many people will remember Carol as someone who would listen and provide counsel or assistance to anyone facing a challenge. Despite suffering a devastating head injury at the young age of 40, she continued to touch many lives with her sheer strength and tenacity as well as with her loving nature and sense of humor.

Mrs. Loconti is survived by her two daughters and their spouses:  Kathlene Loconti, and her husband, Michael LaBuz, of Clinton, New York, and Concetta and Craig Overend, of Auburn, New York; three grandchildren:  Gabriel Overend, and Adriana and Ethan LaBuz; and a sister and her husband, Ann and Lee Sergott, of Utica, New York; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph A. Loconti, who passed away on September 15, 2013, and a sister and her husband, Barbara and Francis Buckingham.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service that will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.  There will be no calling hours.  Please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Croghan Fire Department, P.O. Box 405, Croghan, New York 13327.  Arrangements are with the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
