Mary G. Ripp
January 30, 1951 - March 5, 2020

PORT LEYDEN - Surrounded by her family, Mary G. Ripp, 69, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, after a long illness.

Known to friends as “Ripper,” she was born in Lowville, to John and Natalie (Boland) Ripp.  After attending Port Leyden Central School, Mary graduated from South Lewis Senior High School.  Next, she furthered her education in Elementary Education at SUNY Potsdam.

Mary taught in the South Lewis District her entire career.  Indeed, she enjoyed teaching, especially second grade students, and she loved all her children.  She retired in 2006.

She loved to follow Syracuse basketball, to laugh, and especially to surround herself with friends and family, socializing and living life to its fullest.  Her candle has come to its end, but her shining light lives on through the people she met and loved through the years.

She is survived by four brothers:  Michael (Judy) Ripp, of Lyons Falls, Brian Ripp, of Port Leyden, Sean (Lou Anne) Ripp, of Sackets Harbor, Alan (Lynette) Ripp, of Port Leyden; and three sisters:  Patricia (Thomas) Koubek, of Howell, New Jersey, Kathleen Ripp, of Hawthorne, New York, and Laura (Paul) Lazarus, Lowville; and her aunts:  Carolyn Jaquin, of Syracuse, and Gwen Ripp, of Vero Beach, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Natalie; and two brothers, William and Mark, who passed away in 2018.

A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church of Christ Our Hope Parish, Boonville, with Rev. Thomas Ward, officiating.  A spring burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden.

Calling hours for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.

Memorial donations in Mary’s Memory may be made to the Port Leyden Fire Department, PO Box 652, Port Leyden, New York 13433
