Natalie B. Ripp
February 23, 1925 - January 7, 2017

Port Leyden- Natalie B. Ripp, 91, formerly of Mechanic St., widow of John M. Ripp, passed away while under the loving care of her family at the Lewis County Extended Care Facility in Lowville on Saturday, January 7, 2017.

A daughter of La Verne and Frances Fleming Boland, Natalie was born in Syracuse, New York, on February 23, 1925.  She grew up in Syracuse, graduating from Most Holy Rosary High School.  Next, she furthered her education at Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics.  Then, she moved to Port Leyden to teach Home Economics at Port Leyden Central School.

On December 23, 1948, Natalie married John M. Ripp at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, New York.  Later, Mrs. Ripp worked for many years as a substitute teacher.  Next, she taught reading for several years at the Howard G. Sackett BOCES Center in Glenfield.  Mr. Ripp passed away on May 30, 1985.

She is survived by six sons, William, of Bradenton, Florida, Michael (Judy), of Lyons Falls, Mark, of Lebanon, Tennessee, Brian, of Port Leyden, Sean (Lou Anne), of Sackets Harbor, and Alan (Lyn), also of Port Leyden; four daughters, Mary Ripp, of Port Leyden, Patricia (Thomas) Koubek, of Howell, New Jersey, Kathleen Ripp, of Hawthorne, New York, and Laura (Paul) Lazarus, of Lowville; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Jaquin, of Winter Park, Florida.  She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Boland.

Mrs. Ripp’s family extends a note of heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire 4th floor staff of the Lewis County Extended Care Facility for the wonderful and compassionate care extended to Natalie.

Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, with a 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church of Christ, Our Hope Parish, Boonville, with Rev. Thomas Ward, pastor, assisted by Deacon James Chaufty, a longtime friend of the Ripp family, officiating.  Calling hours are Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and again from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  A spring interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Port Leyden Fire Company, P.O. Box # 652, Port Leyden, New York 13433.
