Deloris P. Sohovic
September 7, 1933 ~ October 11, 2019 (age 86)

Deloris P. Sohovic, 86, formerly of Lyons Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2019, with her family by her side.  She was born on September 7, 1933, in Whitesboro, New York, to Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Yerdon) Powell.  On January 21, 1956, she married Paul Sohovic in Pearl River, New York.  For most of their married lives, they resided in Lyons Falls.  She stayed home to raise her children and later worked as a library aide for South Lewis Central Schools until she retired.

Deloris liked doing volunteer work for the public library and the Girl Scouts.  A member of The Valley Homemakers Club, the Turin Highlands Country Club, and the Brantingham Golf Club, she enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends as well.  An avid reader, she enjoyed reading to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be remembered by all for her immense love for her family.

Deloris is survived by seven daughters:  Carol (Richard) Van Orden, of Brewerton, New York, Nancy (Gerhard) Munger, of Lowville, New York, Lauren (Mel) Morgan, of Smithville, Texas, Kathie (Rick) Watson, of Brantingham, New York, Mary (Doug) Tiffany, of Glenfield, New York, Joanna (David Proia), of Syracuse, New York, and Paula (Rick) Steria, of Brewerton, New York; a sister, Shirley Gilberti; and a brother, David (Beverly) Powell; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; as well as by several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Powell; her beloved husband, Paul; a brother, Donald Powell; and her sisters:  Joan Araki, Janet Rocker, and Janice Loomis.

Calling hours are scheduled from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Waters Road, Lowville.  A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at the Wildwood Cemetery in Lyons Falls, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lyons Falls Public Library, 3918 High Street, Lyons Falls, New York 13368, or to the Lewis County Humane Society, PO Box 628, Lowville, New York 13367. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Nursing Home for their care and dedication.
